Roma Tomatoes & Green Beans!

Roma tomatoes are making progress and green beans are popping up!

Meanwhile, I have yellow squash, zucchini, butternut, acorn, scallopini and pumpkin squashes all started as seedlings.

Cantaloupes, cucumbers and watermelons are coming up in seed trays.

I have new baby tomatoes and peppers germinating for a later crop.

Today I’m starting culinary herb seedlings. Chives, parsley, oregano and basil to start with!

Look at those cuties!

Roma Tomatoes Planting Today

Roma tomato plants going in the ground today. A healthy helping of horse poo will feed them well. Feeding my plants well with all natural elements, the way nature intended, is the best way to feed myself.

Beefsteak variety going in next!

Now can anyone guess how I grow tomatoes, every year in every state I’ve lived in (MI, FL, KY, AR, MS) without EVER watering them once planted out in the garden? Yes you heard me right. I HAVE NEVER EVER WATERED MY GARDEN TOMATOES IN 20+ years of growing them, yet they always produce. They never die from not getting enough water. So how can I do this?
I look forward to seeing your input

Tater Time!

My first planting of taters are up! Yippee skippie
Check out my LUSH white clover field. All hand sown and meticulously maintained by me. I lost count how many times I’ve walked that field with my trusty shovel to hand dig out noxious weeds that my animals won’t eat. I’ve under sown Bermuda grass and will add some more lovelies as time goes on!

Garden Coming Along Nicely

Some garden update pics….
I really had to get up close so you could see those teeny tiny carrots coming up FINALLY!
Onions 8” tall
Turnips 4” tall
Kale, mustard and turnip greens all 2-3” tall.
Baby cabbages, broccoli and turnip greens just coming up out of the ground.
My lovely beets already 2” tall
More teeny baby beets just coming up.
And my turnips from last year are done flowering, now making seeds.

My first planting of potatoes should be coming up anyday now….

Cabbages Going To Seed!

Check out my cabbages going to seed for me! Such little cuties!

Today I’ve planted garlic cloves, garlic scapes, turnip greens, beets, lettuce, kale, and mustard greens. Now on to the last bed with red onions. I have 2,500 linear feet or roughly 1/4 acre, of garden planted already. Soon I’ll be starting on potatoes — reds and whites!

Turnip Seed Harvesting

Would you believe this gorgeous plant is just the lowly turnip going to seed? Isn’t it amazing how beautiful vegetables can be?! I have a whole row of these lovelies that will give me fresh new turnip seeds for Fall harvest.
