Easter Event!
Hey y’all- we plan to host an Easter Day fun event at the store this year.
We will have Easter egg hunt, bean bag toss, 3 legged races, ring toss, bubble blowing, treasure hunts, spring planting and crafts!
This event will be on the 17th and there will be a meal as well. In order to prepare for this event I’m asking for donations of clean empty wine bottles (I need tall bottles with long necks) for the ring toss. Could use about 30-40 and also any little Easter baskets or pails you don’t need anymore to give to the kids who show up without one.
If anyone wants to volunteer to be the Easter bunny, let me know!
Would love to have some folks who like to play acoustic music and singing during the event, anyone want to set up a picture booth and/or face painting for the kids? You have an idea? Let me know thanks!
Store Closed Today Due To Frozen Rain-covered roads!

Chicken Noodle Soup For The Soul… From The Farm!
Our free-range chickens raised on weeds, grass, bugs and NON-GMO grains/seeds we grow ourselves make an amazingly tasty and healthy chicken noodle soup. Used store-bought noodles this time but often I make my own. Carrots, celery, onions, garlic, sea salt, thyme, parsley, red pepper…. So tasty!
Taking Beef Orders
I will be opening the store a little late this morning. We are adding a new bathroom for the employees and while the water is cut off, I’m gonna wait a little to open. Hopefully, at about 11am. Call first if you wanna come see me so you don’t waste a trip.
I’m putting together the last of this butchers beef sampler packs, 1 chevon pack and 2 pork sampler packs. We will be taking orders for the next beef butcher date estimating middle to end of March, depending on when the butcher can work us in.

When Two Beauties Meet One Bull
As promised, I’m here with some updates on my lovely heifers’ new shotgun wedding husband… Such a handsome boy he is. Let me tell you how their courting has gone so far. Bella is my Jersey heifer and Sophia is my Dexter heifer.
On the first day of moving my girls to the house, it was kinda nerve-wracking for them since the last time they’ve been in a vehicle at all was when they were 8 weeks old. They did amazingly well given the fear they had. We put them in a small paddock area with water, hay, feeders, and shelter. This paddock is in between 2 others groups, on one side there are full-grown heifers, and on the other side, we have weaned calves. My girls have never been around any other calves since 8 weeks of age.
We made sure to give them some shots so they wouldn’t catch something and get sick, and unfortunately, we had to dull their horns cuz none of the others have any horns. Can’t risk injuries. We let them get used to their new surrounding for the first day and just relax.
Our new bull just so happened to be in with the weaned calves and wouldn’t you know, about 2 hours after the girls were exploring their new pen he came to introduce himself through the fence. Sophia was happy to go meet him but Bella wasn’t having any of it….. yet!
By the middle of the day, Mister Handsome had found his way right inside the girls’ pen and was whispering sweet nothings into Sophia’s ear. Boy was she loving all that attention. Next, I observed the two of them taking a leisurely sunset stroll around the perimeter of the pen.
Just as the sun began to set, the heifers from the other adjacent fence came over to investigate. The big fat freezer beefs had more to say to Mister Handsome than the girls did, and they proceeded to bow heads and make snuffing noises at each other. By nightfall, it was clear there would be no more arguing and all was calm in the bovine world.
The following morning, as the roosters crowed, the doelings nayed for attention, and the dogs happily chomped on their food, I caught a glimpse of Mister Handsome sitting alongside Bella while he gingerly licked a boo-boo on her side. The two sat close enough together I doubt you’d find room to slide a piece of paper between em.
As of today, the three are casually munching on feed and hay together as if they’ve known each other their whole lives. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring and I’ll be keeping y’all updated as we go along on this journey together.
Bull On The Way, Then Maybe Calfs Too?! 🥰
Oh my! We found a handsome young bull from TN and got him to the farm the other day. We moved my heifers to the house this evening. Tomorrow they’ll be having a shotgun wedding cuz both my girls are READY, if you know what I mean . Pictures to come!
Freezing Rain, Unsafe Roads, Opening After Noon Today
It’s starting to come down freezing rain outside folks. I’m going to wait till the rain moves out and the temperature gets a few degrees above freezing, so the roads are clear before opening today. The weather says about noon… y’all be SAFE!!
Looking Forward; New Bulls Perhaps?
We closed early today to go look at some new bulls for our ladies we are thinking of buying. If we score a new handsome fella, I’ll be sure to post a picture for y’all. Get outside and get some sunshine!

I have 3 more beef sampler packs and 3 more pork sampler packs available for this month. If you’d like to get your family one let me know ASAP! The next butcher will be towards the end of March or possibly into April depending on the butcher schedule. Eggs are continuing to increase now with our days getting longer again. I have goat milk again and if your freezer is getting low on peas, come see me and I’ll work you out a deal. We can swap them out from my freezer to yours Don’t forget to check the bottom of the soda cans from the outside Pepsi machine to see if you’ve won the raffle. You are a winner if your can has a hand-drawn star on the bottom.
