Oasis Homestead LGD Updates: Doing Well!

The Oasis Homestead LGD family is doing fantastic since the move. They seem to really love their new enclosure. My momma and poppa dogs are even willingly staying inside it. This is a major feat and to me it means they feel completely content inside there.

I am pleased to report all the dogs were amazingly attentive, yet respectful during the birth of my first baby goat at the new place. Genius was especially concerned that nobody gets too close to momma goat and baby for the first few days. Momma dog (Naucelle), with her usual calming manner, encouraged baby goat to come play out from underneath the cedar tree where it was hiding.

Baby goat is quite confident now. Playing, bouncing, climbing and romping as only kid goats can do! He stands directly on billy and leaps over chickens, climbs inside the feeder and rolls around over tuffs of spilled hay. He’s quite happy!

The other nanny goats are due to kid soon and judging by their giant bellies, should deliver twins each. I feel completely confident that all my dogs will behave beautifully during kidding time. It is such a relief to know my LGD’s are protecting all my animals.

Progress Report: Planting Crops!

Making progress planting crops today. This is roughly 3 acres that can be planted.
Working the tractor- broke ground with my tiller, then making furrows with the wheel hoe. This is space for potatoes.
Planting roughly 150 pounds of white taters and 250 pounds of red taters.
Let’s see how much I can get done in a single day….. come follow along 🙂

Morel Treasures!

Look what’s hiding in the woods at the new homestead….
who will be the first to properly identify it?!!

We are on the last run of barb wire to put up today! Yippee skippee!!
Next to separate the strands and begin clipping them to the T-posts and install the gates.
Looks hopeful to have the animals moved out here at some point this weekend!! I sooo miss seeing my animals everyday. Keep your fingers crossed for us folks… hugs to everyone.

Orchard Site Updates

I’ve got my fruit tree orchard plan all laid out on the ground and digging the holes today.

If things go well on that front (I need 28 fruit tree holes dug) I’ll be digging up the fruit trees from the old place tomorrow morning.

Selling off the 2 pups and head back here to transplant them asap!

IF I can knock out both those tasks by Wednesday, I’ll be so happy. I’ll have sold all the pups I need to for the move and transplanted all the trees. I’ve already got 1/2 the fencing done at the new place. Looking at purchasing a used stock trailer for myself. If I buy it, it will pay for itself by 1/3 just from moving my animals this once.

I’ve already cleaned up the outside of anything I needed to take with me. Got the electric disconnected from my shipping container. Have a good lead on who could move them for me.

I began scoping out another one of my property lines today. It cuts through a wooded ravine so it won’t be as easy to lay out as the other one I’ve gotten done.

Sooo many things are prepped to go go go. Want to get this move finished asap!!

Below you can see the pre-dug holes where the transplants will go and the last section being measured with stakes and line.
